Ninety former Oakland Raiders cheerleaders received compensation from a $1.25 million settlement as a result of a class-action lawsuit for fair pay. The settlement was reached back in September of 2014 but the cheerleaders were finally able to collect the money this week.
The cheerleaders claimed in the lawsuit that they were paid less than minimum wage — just $125 a day — and denied overtime pay despite working nine-hour days with no lunch break, all while not being reimbursed for business expenses from 2010 to 2014. Additionally, they claimed they were docked pay for petty infractions like wearing the wrong shade of nail polish.
