There’s an art to team building.
In the NFL, it’s about getting your team ready for the present while setting up the organization for the future. It’s about knowing when to keep players and when to let them go. Every year, teams make moves that both work and don’t.
For the 2020 Patriots, it’s obvious that the team failed to adequately build their quarterback depth following the departure of Tom Brady.
Brady left on March 20, 2020. The Patriots only quarterback acquisition that month was veteran Brian Hoyer, who was signed five days later. The NFL Draft came in and went in April without the Pats adding a quarterback.
