NFL players union head DeMaurice Smith was a guest on ESPN’s ‘Outside the Lines’ a short time ago. Naturally, the topic was Deflategate, and the NFLPA’s representation of Patriots quarterback Tom Brady.
Smith indicated he had yet to hear a response from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell on the union’s request that Goodell recuse himself from hearing Brady’s appeal.
How much longer did Goodell have to respond?
“Sooner rather than later,” Smith said.
NFLPA lawyers who are representing Brady plan on calling Goodell as a witness in the case. That’s part of the reason they asked for him to step aside as the arbiter.
