Call it a case of adverse weather conditions possibly leading to adverse consequences for Malcolm Butler.
A report by ESPN yesterday revealed the NFL Players Association has filed a complaint against the Patriots for benching the cornerback from on-field workouts during recent organized team activities.
As reported by the Herald’s Jeff Howe on June 10, the team disciplined Butler for being late to OTAs because his flight was grounded due to adverse weather conditions.
Butler was initially held out from on-field activities, although he did participate in classroom work, team meetings and weight room activities. His pay was not withheld, but he was not allowed on the field until the final week of OTAs.
