Los Angeles (AFP) - The New England Patriots have traded top pass-rusher Chandler Jones to the Arizona Cardinals for guard Jonathan Cooper and a second-round selection in April's NFL draft.
The teams confirmed the deal on Tuesday, saying it would become official once both players pass medical exams.
Jones was a first-round pick in 2012 and led the Patriots with 12.5 quarterback sacks last season.
In the off week between the final regular-season game and the first playoff game for the Patriots in January, Jones was hospitalized when he was found kneeling in front of a police station asking for help.
