NFL levies heavy punishment on Dolphins, owner Stephen Ross for tampering to bring Tom Brady to Miami

The NFL suspended Dolphins owner Stephen Ross through Oct. 17 and fined him $1.5 million after a six-month investigation found the club violated league tampering rules.

The punishment is connected to the alleged recruitment of Tom Brady to Miami, a deal that fell apart after former Dolphins coach Brian Flores sued the team, alleging racial discrimination.

The Dolphins will also lose their first-round pick in 2023 and their third-round pick in 2024.

In a release issued midday Tuesday, the NFL said it found that the Dolphins had “impermissible communications” with Brady in 2019, his final season with the Patriots.
