With the 166th overall pick of the 2015 NFL draft, the New England Patriots have selected long-snapper Joe Cardona out of Navy. If this isn’t a total Bill Belichick pick, I don’t know what is.
This was actually a need for the team, as they didn’t re-sign Danny Aiken this past year. However with that said, I don’t know about taking a long-snapper in the fifth round. He probably would have been available later, but honestly, after the draft haul the Pats have gotten up until this point, I don’t really care.
Cardona is the top long-snapping prospect, and in fact, the speed at which he snapped the ball was evidently the highest tested ever.
