The connection between Cam Newton and Jakobi Meyers started long before the receiver entered the NFL.
For Meyers, meeting Newton was a chance in a lifetime. When he was in high school, he tried out and made the veteran quarterback’s 7-on-7 All-Star team that traveled to Florida for a tournament. Meyers was a dual-threat quarterback from Lithonia, Georgia, with a scholarship to North Carolina State.
Every year, Newton takes some of the most talented high school football players in the nation and helps mentor and coach them.
