On Tuesday, the New England Patriots announced that the team will hold joint practices with the Philadelphia Eagles prior to their preseason game on Thursday, Aug. 19 in Pennsylvania.
According to a Patriots press release, the practice sessions will take place on Monday, Aug. 16 and Tuesday, Aug. 17 at times yet to be determined. Joint practices were not allowed in 2020 and all preseason games were cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions during the pandemic.
Previously, the Patriots last held joint practices with the Eagles during the 2014 preseason at Gillette Stadium.
With NFL COVID-19 safety protocols more relaxed heading into the 2021 season, the Patriots will be able to participate in practices with other teams for the first time since 2019 when they were in Nashville with the Titans and Detroit with the Lions.
