New England Patriots work out free agent running backs Pierre Thomas and Robert Turbin, per report

Stuck with just three running backs following Dion Lewis' season-ending ACL tear, the New England Patriots may be looking to add another body.

According to NESN's Doug Kyed, Pierre Thomas and Robert Turbin both worked out for the Pats Thursday.

Thomas, 30, briefly played for the San Francisco 49ers earlier this year. He was cut this week when the team signed ex-Patriot Travaris Cadet. Thomas is a well-established pass-catching back who hauled in 327 receptions in eight years with the Saints.

Turbin, 25, is a compact 5-foot-10, 222 pounds. He caught 16 passes for Seattle a year ago.
