On Monday afternoon, the New England Patriots announced their signing of veteran cornerback Derek Cox. After the release of Brandon Spikes this morning, a roster spot become available. The Patriots were smart to fill that void with a cornerback that will bolster the depth chart.

Drafted in the third round back in 2009 by the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cox has racked up 241 combined tackles, 13 picks and 39 passes defended in his career. In three of his four seasons with the Jaguars, Cox recorded four interceptions and put himself on the map as a solid starting NFL cornerback.
