The New England Patriots and Pittsburgh Steelers know who will be refereeing their game Sunday night.
The NFL announced Tuesday that longtime veteran Terry McAulay will be the head referee for the AFC Championship.
McAulay began his NFL career as a side judge in 1998 before being promoted to referee in 2001. McAulay’s most prominent assignment came as the referee of Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa, FL, which pitted the Arizona Cardinals against (coincidentally) the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers won the game 27-23 on a last minute touchdown pass from Ben Roethlisberger to Santonio Holmes.
