New England Patriots roster cuts: CB Darryl Roberts placed on IR, WR DaVaris Daniels claimed off waivers

The New England Patriots moved rookie cornerback Darryl Roberts to the injured reserve Tuesday as they cut their roster down to 75 players.

Roberts, a 7th-round pick with terrific athleticism, was the No. 2 corner with the first team defense in the preseason opener versus the Packers. He suffered a reported wrist injury on the thirds series, though, effectively ending his season.

The Pats also designated defensive lineman Chris Jones and linebacker Dane Fletcher to the PUP list. Both will be eligible to return in Week 7. After cutting linebacker D.J. Lynch and offensive lineman Chris Barker, the Patriots are down to 75 players.
