Since 2012, the Patriots have focused almost exclusively on defensive players at the top of their drafts, nabbing 11 defenders -- five of whom were starters a year ago -- in Rounds 1-3.
They have only selected two offensive players in that span -- quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo and wide receiver Aaron Dobson.
Given the state of the current roster, the trend figures to change later this month. The Pats hold four picks in the top three rounds, and it would be a stunner if at least two weren't used to address the offensive side of the ball.
