The New England Patriots have placed wide receiver Brandon Gibson on injured reserve, suffering another blow to a banged-up wide receiver corps.
The team has brought in Reggie Wayne, who may be in position to be the No. 2 wideout if Brandon LaFell remains on the PUP list.
Gibson had been the most consistent receiver in two preseason games for the Patriots. A free agent signee from Miami, Gibson looked like he was in line to snag a spot on the 53-man roster. He injured his right knee on this play versus the Saints Saturday. The NFL Network reported it was an ACL tear.
