The New England Patriots currently lead the league in containing the coronavirus. Well, the county surrounding the stadium does, at least.
This week, the NFL Players Association released COVID-19 testing data for all NFL markets. The Patriots’ market was listed as having the lowest concentration of positive COVID-19 tests at 3.29 cases per 100,000.
The data is based on the 14-day average of daily cases per capita in the “NFL metropolitan statistical area” in which the team’s stadium is located. For the Patriots, the NFLPA defined that is “Boston-Cambridge-Newton, MA-NH,” an area containing Boston and Foxborough while stretching as far north as Portsmouth, New Hampshire and going as far south as the border of Cape Cod.
