After leaving the New England Patriots to become the head coach of the New York Jets, Eric Mangini and Bill Belichick’s relationship went south.
In 2007, the Spygate scandal rocked the NFL and also destroyed the relationship between the once good friends. Now 10 years later, Mangini is no longer coaching and is hopeful to repair the relationship with Belichick.
“Am I surprised? I hope it’s something that can come back,” Mangini told Mike Reiss of ESPN.com.
For six seasons in New England, Mangini was a coach with Belichick. After one season as the defensive coordinator, Mangini was offered the job to become the head coach of the Jets.
