New England Patriots’ Brandon Copeland eager to share his Ivy League-learned financial knowledge

From a football and personal standpoint the torn pectoral muscle, Patriots linebacker Brandon Copeland suffered Sunday was a crushing blow. Copeland, who is in his first season in New England, saw his role and leadership both increasing in recent weeks. Now he’ll have to wait until next year to contribute on the football field.

As a teaching point, however, it has some value. A season-ending injury is a reminder that NFL seasons and careers only last so long. Making the most of any contract a player gets is a valuable approach to instill.

Among NFL players, Copeland is in a rare position to impart that lesson.
