Christian Gonzalez continues to look like the steal of the 2023 NFL draft.
The Patriots used their first-round pick (No. 17) to select the former Oregon Ducks’ star cornerback in the 2023 NFL draft. Gonzalez has performed so well that he’s quickly becoming a lockdown defender and he’s being assigned to cover the opposing team’s best wide receiver.
Patriots’ coach Bill Belichick isn’t one to heap praise on any player, but he has been impressed by Gonzalez, going so far as to compare him to one of the team’s greatest cornerbacks.
“Well, one of the best things about Christian, especially at that position, is he’s very even-keeled,” Bill Belichick said Monday on radio station WEEI in Boston.
