New England Patriots: Analysis Of The Jerod Mayo Contract

Yesterday, the New England Patriots restructured linebacker Jerod Mayo‘s contract to keep him here for the 2015 season. Coming into this offseason, re-working Mayo’s deal was near the top of the Patriots’ priority list, and I’m glad they got it done.

If Mayo were to play on his old contract, he would have cost the Patriots over $10 million cap space, and while I love Mayo, that was way too much to be giving him. Instead, he will earn a decent $6.25 million this year, saving the Pats a lot of money, and giving them the best group of linebackers in the NFL.
