New England, NJ Ban on Interstate Youth Hockey Extended Until April

Youth hockey players won't be able to play games across state lines until at least April in New England and New Jersey, the states' seven governors announced Friday.

Interstate youth hockey was suspended in November and the suspension was extended last month.

College, professional and U.S. national hockey teams aren't affected by the suspension.

The governors of all six New England states, in addition to New Jersey, jointly announced Thursday interstate youth hockey competitions would be suspended as the region grapples with rising coronavirus cases.

"As public health data continues to evolve, the states will reassess the need for continued restrictions on interstate sports activities," read the announcement from the governors, Charlie Baker of Massachusetts, Janet Mills of Maine, Gina Raimondo of Rhode Island, Chris Sununu of New Hampshire, Phil Scott of Vermont, Ned Lamont of Connecticut and Phil Murphy of New Jersey.
