Mistake-prone Patriots suffer stunning defeat to Eagles

FOXBORO — The Patriots couldn’t pull off a wild comeback attempt after digging themselves into a hole with a boatload of uncharacteristic mistakes today as they fell to the Philadelphia Eagles, 35-28, at Gillette Stadium.

They have now lost back-to-back games after Thanksgiving for just the third time since 2003.

Tom Brady tried to revive the team after a flurry of mistakes buried them in a 35-14 hole before they took possession with 7:45 remaining in the fourth quarter. The quarterback connected with Scott Chandler for a 14-yard touchdown, and Rashaan Melvin recovered the ensuing onside kick.
