Former New England Patriots linebacker and Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel is a coaching free agent, and as one of the hottest names on the market already began doing interviews. Last week, one of those took place with the New York Jets.
However, if a report by CBS Sports’ Aditi Kinkhabwala is to be believed, Vrabel had a different motive speaking to the team. Vrabel apparently was trying to use the Jets to “put pressure on [the] Patriots to make a move.”
New England did indeed make a move, firing head coach Jerod Mayo shortly after its season opener against the Buffalo Bills ended with a 23-16 victory.
