Matt Sokol and Breon Borders have reverted to the New England Patriots’ practice squad after serving as standard elevations versus the Denver Broncos.
Christmas Eve’s 26-23 win at Empower Field marked the first call-up of the regular season for the tight end as well as the cornerback.
Sokol, 28, played 10 out of 58 offensive snaps for a depth chart led by Pharaoh Brown and Mike Gesicki in the absence of downgraded captain Hunter Henry. The Michigan State product also stepped in for seven snaps on special teams. Entering the NFL as an undrafted free agent in 2019, Sokol made two stops apiece with the Los Angeles Chargers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions before being claimed off waivers ahead of organized team activities in 2022.
