Long-Time Patriots Safety Patrick Chung is Retiring

Some interesting news on Thursday after long-time Patriots safety Patrick Chung announced his retirement.

The veteran safety had originally seemed focused on returning after missing last season, but he’s instead decided to call it a career after 11 seasons in the NFL.

Chung posted a heart-felt message on his Instagram account where he said he was “in tears” writing the announcement, but thanked owner Robert Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick.

He was originally a 2nd round pick after being selected by the Patriots in the 2009 draft (34th overall). He left the club after the 2012 season and played with the Eagles, but returned a year later and flourished in his second tenure with the club, with Belichick admitting that the team originally didn’t properly utilize his skillset.
