FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- In the afterglow of the New England Patriots' AFC Championship Game win, cornerback Logan Ryan reached for his phone and sent a text to Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Mohamed Sanu. He didn't use words, only an emoji.
Two eyes.
Sanu replied with the same emoji.
"That's all that's been said," Ryan told reporters Friday.
In this case, an emoji is worth a thousand words.
Ryan and Sanu, former college roommates at Rutgers, will face each other next Sunday in Super Bowl LI. They lived together for two years, 2009 and 2010, and now they'll be going head-to-head on the sport's biggest stage.
