Lions DC Aaron Glenn shuts down Patriots' interview request

Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn denied the New England Patriots' interview request for their head coaching job, according to NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero.

It was reported on Wednesday that Glenn was sought after for an interview by the Patriots, who have a long history of prioritizing defensive-minded head coaches.

The Patriots defense struggled this season, while the Lions fielded a top-10 unit. They allowed only 98.4 rushing yards per game and 20.1 points on the season. They also had a total of 16 interceptions on the year.

The Patriots have interviewed or scheduled interviews for multiple candidates, including Mike Vrabel, Ben Johnson, Byron Leftwich and Pep Hamilton.
