According to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald, the New England Patriots have re-signed power back LeGarrette Blount. It was a smart move.
Look, had the Patriots let Blount go, they would have been short-handed on the running back depth chart. While Dion Lewis and James White are shifty, exciting open-field ball carriers, running between the tackles is not their specialty. The Patriots needed to retain Blount to ensure they have that bruiser in the backfield.
The Patriots now have a deep backfield group of Blount, Lewis, White, Brandon Bolden, Joey Iosefa and Donald Brown.

Expect Iosefa to live on the practice squad, as he flashed promise against the Tennessee Titans last season.
