As the Patriots prepare to build their roster for next season, there’s sentiment that they need to improve on their 30th-ranked pass defense that Nick Foles shredded in Super Bowl LII.
And although the Pats defense needs improvement on all three levels, their ineffectiveness stopping the run actually is a bigger issue than pass defense. It’s something the Patriots would be smart to consider as they head to the NFL scouting combine this week and begin to assess the crop of players available in April’s draft.
The Patriots run defense last season was worst the team has had since Bill Belichick took over as coach in 2000.
