Lazar: Patriots defense can’t afford a letdown in red zone

Russell Wilson and the Seahawks exposed the holes in the Patriots defense on Sunday night in several ways.

It wasn’t just that Wilson posted the third-highest passer rating (124.6) in Foxboro by a visiting quarterback in the Bill Belichick era. Or that the Patriots surrendered a season-high 31 points.

The Seahawks also made themselves at home in the Patriots’ end of the field.

Seattle made seven trips to the red zone, which tied for the most in a game against the Patriots during the Belichick era. The Seahawks scored 28 of their 31 points from within 20 yards of the Patriots’ end zone.
