FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The two-year contract extension signed by New England Patriots linebacker Kyle Van Noy adds another layer to the team's "middle class" on the roster. When including the 2017 season, in which Van Noy was already under contract, the pact essentially comes in at a value of three years for $12.87 million.
This reflects how Van Noy is viewed by the team as a quality mid-level defender who can factor into the many sub packages the defense plays. The Patriots were in sub defense more than 80 percent of the time in 2016.
