Jimmy Garoppolo couldn’t have imagined his return to Foxboro “going any better” than it did in the San Francisco 49ers’ 27-point pasting Sunday of his former team, the New England Patriots.
Garoppolo didn’t throw a touchdown pass at Gillette Stadium in his first appearance there since his 2017 trade to the Niners, but the 28-year-old quarterback didn’t need to in a 33-6 rout behind a strong running game and a stifling defensive effort.
“It was a cool week,” said Garoppolo, who completed 20 of 25 passes for 277 yards. “Just a lot of emotions, a lot of memories.
