FOXBORO — While the Patriots (and the rest of the Western world) await judge Richard Berman’s ruling on Tom Brady’s four-game suspension, Jimmy Garoppolo is preparing to be the starting quarterback.
The second-year player vowed yesterday he’ll be ready to lead the Patriots offense if Brady’s suspension is upheld. The season opens Sept. 10.
“Whether I’m the starter, backup, whatever that may be, I’m preparing like the starter, and I’ve got to be ready for Week 1,” Garoppolo said.
He claimed his meticulous preparation has been a constant, dating all the way back to OTAs.
“You’ve got to come into this whether you’re a starter or a backup, you’ve got to have a starter’s mentality, Garoppolo said.
