The New York Jets traded safety Calvin Pryor to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for linebacker Demario Davis, the Browns announced in a statement on Thursday.
The move gives Pryor, a former first-round pick in 2014, a shot to restart his career with another franchise. Pryor started 38 games over the first three seasons in New York, but underachieved as a whole. The Jets then took two safeties in this year’s NFL draft, and Pryor missed early OTA practices.
New York also declined to exercise the fifth-year option in Pryor’s rookie contract, which would have made him a free agent after the 2017 season.
