The Jets made two roster moves on Tuesday.
The team signed linebacker Del’Shawn Phillips to the active roster off of their practice squad. Phillips had been elevated for each of the first two games and played a large role against the Panthers after starter Jamien Sherwood suffered an ankle injury.
The Jets also waived safety Sheldrick Redwine, who was part of the coverage blunder against the Panthers that led to Robby Anderson’s 57-yard touchdown. Redwine did not play any defensive snaps in Sunday’s loss to the Patriots.
The “Monday Night Football” presentation with Peyton and Eli Manning increased its viewership by 138% over last week’s debut, becoming the most-watched alternate telecast in ESPN history.
