The NFL fined Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood $6,324 for unnecessary roughness during a collision with Patriots quarterback Drake Maye.
Last week, Maye left the game early with a head injury after Sherwood hit him at the end of a scramble. Maye was attempting to slide but didn’t get down in time.
Sherwood crashed his helmet into Maye’s and the quarterback finished the drive after being helped up by his teammates. Coach Jerod Mayo said after the game that Maye wanted to go back in but was not allowed because of his injury.
There was no penalty on the play.
