Jerod Mayo took to Instagram to announce on his verified account that he is moving on from the Patriots. It wasn't clear if he was leaving for another team, but in response to a fan, he indicated he was "retiring a Patriot."
The linebacker and defensive captain, taken with the 10th overall pick in the 2008 draft, struggled after returning from a torn patella this past season, before suffering another season-ending injury. It was the third straight year Mayo, who had a torn pectoral muscle, finished the season on injured reserve. It was doubtful the Patriots would keep him at his $11.
