The New England Patriots are nearing a decision on their next starting quarterback, according to coach Jerod Mayo.
Rookie Drake Maye closed the gap on veteran quarterback Jacoby Brissett in the preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles and ensuing training camp practices.
It remains an open competition for the job with Brissett leading the way as the more experienced option under center. When appearing on "The Greg Hill Show" on Monday, Mayo claimed the Patriots would stick to their developmental plan at quarterback, even if it isn't the most popular decision.
