Jerod Mayo became the latest name to join a not-so-fun list on Sunday -- non-interim NFL head coaches that were fired after one season in charge.
The New England Patriots fired Mayo after the Patriots defeated the Buffalo Bills 23-16. The victory dropped New England from the No. 1 pick to No. 4 in the 2025 NFL Draft. Mayo finished 4-13, including two separate stretches of six straight losses.
Though Mayo spent eight seasons as a linebacker for the Patriots, he couldn't escape a similar fate as recent head coaches across the NFL.
