The Patriots will be on the market for a running back after placing Jeremy Hill on injured reserve with a torn right ACL a league source confirmed Monday.
Hill, who will miss the rest of the season, went down early in the third quarter of Sunday’s season-opening 27-20 win over the Texans. Following Rob Gronkowski’s catch and fumble, Hill was going after Tyrann Mathieu, who had made the recovery, when he collided with fullback James Develin.
Hill could barely put pressure on his right leg as two members of the team’s medical staff assisted him to the blue tent on the sideline.
