BOCA RATON, Fla. -- Of the New England Patriots' various free-agent signings this offseason, the spotlight has hardly found defensive tackle Frank Kearse, as he has flown very much under the radar since signing a one-year, $865,000 contract.
The 6-foot-5, 310-pound Kearse spent the last two years in Washington and coach Jay Gruden said Wednesday morning at the NFL annual meeting that his versatility is a plus. Gruden added that Kearse has the flexibility to play 3 technique (over the outside shoulder of the guard) or 5 technique (head up on the tackle), which is something the Patriots might value.
