Mac Jones didn't have to compete for the New England Patriots' starting quarterback job this summer, but training camp and the preseason did present plenty of challenges for him.
The transition to a new offense has not gone smoothly, to say the least.
Many camp practices were a grind for Jones and the offense. The three preseason games weren't any better. Jones played in seven drives over the final two games and New England's offense scored only one touchdown despite playing against mostly backups on the Las Vegas Raiders and Carolina Panthers defenses.
