Former San Francisco 49ers backup quarterback Josh Dobbs has reportedly agreed to a deal to join the New England Patriots.
It's a two-year, $8 million deal for the journeyman quarterback, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
This move likely means the Patriots will be moving on from last year's initial starter Jacoby Brissett ahead of free agency. Dobbs is perfectly capable of serving in a veteran role as a No. 3 option behind quarterbacks Drake Maye and Joe Milton III.
He could also serve as the primary backup option for the team if they decided to trade Milton for an extra draft pick.
