The working relationship between New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick was the most successful the NFL has ever seen. The duo hoisted six Lombardi Trophies and established the organization as the league’s model franchise.
After 24 years together, however, they will go separate ways.
On Thursday, after a series of meetings the previous days, news broke that Kraft and Belichick have decided a fresh start was in order: Belichick will not be back as the Patriots’ head coach and de facto general manager in 2024. The move was later confirmed by the two men, taking the podium in the Gillette Stadium media auditorium alongside one another — a final show of unity.
