EAST RUTHERFORD — The New England Patriots appear to finally be stumbling back to reality after two decades at the top of the NFL.
They head into Monday night’s game against the New York Jets with their first four-game losing streak since 2002. At 2-5, the Patriots are three games under .500 for the first time since 2000, when they finished 5-11 in Bill Belichick’s first season at the helm.
Tom Brady is gone and the downfall that has been predicted for so long finally appears to be happening.
But fittingly for the Jets — and certainly maddening for their fans — there’s absolutely no way they can benefit from it.
