DETROIT — Watching Julian Edelman being driven off in a cart with a right knee injury was not the most comforting sight for Patriots fans, even with the Pats starters blowing out the Lions early in the third preseason game last night at Ford Field.
Everyone knows the importance of Edelman to Tom Brady and the offense. He’s the proverbial straw that stirs the drink. He’s the catalyst who makes it all fly. He gets the chains moving. He makes it happen.
It’s never a good thing if he’s down for any length of time. When the wide receiver missed time during the 2015 season, injuring his foot in Week 10 against the New York Giants and missing the final six games, the offense sputtered down the stretch.
