Guregian: Patriots’ comeback magic dried up against the Eagles

MINNEAPOLIS - This time, the clock ran out. Time expired on the Patriots. Tom Brady’s Hail Mary in the closing seconds didn’t land in Rob Gronkowski’s hands in the end zone.

For once, Bill Belichick’s team ran out of miracles. For once, Brady didn’t have that last heroic drive.

We’re so used to the Patriots pulling these games out. We’ve become so accustomed to their stunning Super Bowl comebacks.

Whether it was beating the Seahawks with a great second half and Malcolm Butler’s goal line pick for the ages, or pulling off the greatest comeback of all-time in erasing a 25-point deficit to the Falcons last year, it was odd not having it happen again.
