FOXBORO — Rob Gronkowski yesterday took a light-hearted approach to a serious matter.
Now in his sixth season with the Patriots, the All-Pro tight end finally made his first appearance at the podium in the press room at Gillette Stadium before an assemblage of local and national media.
“Wow, my first podium, I’m big-time,” Gronkowski said. “It’s always been a dream for six years.”
The proceedings assumed a somber tone when Gronkowski was asked about exposing his surgically repaired right knee to a pair of Broncos safeties that have harmed him in the past.
Gronkowski said he has a protection plan in place when the Patriots take on Denver in the AFC Championship Game Sunday at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
