The New England Patriots are slowly building their roster back to capable production, particularly in a new offense in need of support at several positions.
Wide receiver will clearly be in need of elite playmakers down the stretch. That's not to say that second-year pass-catcher DeMario Douglas isn't dynamic in the slot or that rookie Ja'Lynn Polk can't develop into that type of option for the Patriots.
Additionally, the Patriots have done plenty to try and bring in that top receiver to advance the offense and eventually strengthen the development of future franchise quarterback Drake Maye. They tried to bring in Brandon Aiyuk, it didn't work out.
