FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- The New England Patriots signed four-year veteran tight end Greg Scruggs on Saturday, adding a fifth player at the position, which is especially rare.
Here is a bit more on Scruggs:
At 6-foot-3 and 277 pounds, he is considered a strong blocker. He fits the profile of injured tight end Michael Williams, a bigger player at the position who was known more for his blocking than pass-catching skills.
Out of Louisville, he entered the NFL as a seventh-round draft choice of the Seahawks.
Scruggs played defensive end his first four seasons in the NFL before making the switch to tight end with the Bears this year.
